the servlet engine sometimes uses cookies to keep track of sessions.
Normally, an applet inherits all the cookie type info from the parent
browser, but the java plug in is, a plug in, and does not get that info
from the browser, which means that any communication between the applet
running in the java plug in and your server are actually in a different
session.
The way to get around that is to tell the servlet engine to use URL
rewriting for session tracking instead.
