How about grand ol automation? Allow users to rate one another by email to the list. A users rating and number of ratings can be displayed in the subject line. (e.g "[8][46] What's a servlet" where 8 is the rating on 1-10 and 46 is the number of users who rated. Other users can then filter emails based on rating, possibly also by automation. Something like this: The second bad question comes in. You're a little bothered. You click reply and type rate:1 where 1 represents a bad rating on 1-10. Another great question comes in. You click reply and type rate:10 because you want more questions like this. The advantages go on. It sho 'nuff aint fool proof but it's more realistic than manual intervention by Sun. Anyway... that doesn't solve the problem. The idiot posters would just all join the expert list because that is where the experts who can answer the questions are. The point is that some people think it's their *right* to ask stupid questions and get an answer. I would say that's true, IF you pay for the priviledge, or at least if the person answering gets paid for having answered. We, the experts who answer questions here, don't get paid by Sun. Sun benefit directly from this list and our expertise. And yet Sun do nothing to make this list less troublesome. I'm getting pretty pissed off with that.
