All of our computers on the Internet are multi-homed, i.e., have multiple
IP's, whether running solaris or NT. I don't know much about solaris, but
for NT you can do this with a single NIC (network interface card). That is,
you can have multiple IP addresses assigned to a single NIC. We run
multiple instances of various web servers on these machines, all on port 80,
because the server products we use (e.g., Netscape, Lotus Notes Domino)
allow you to "bind" a server instance to a particular IP address. I don't
know anything about Apache, but I would be shocked if it didn't allow you to
do the same thing.
There is certainly no US law concerning this.
Hope this helps.
