Hi!

I think that the container can destroy the servlet when goes down, of
course, and when a specific time has come up (a kind of garbage collector) .
This is usefull when you wanna optimize memory resources.
There are several application servers which may implement that in several
ways.

You can read about that in a good J2EE book.

Hope itll help you!

Greatings!

Subject: destroy method

Can someone tell me, when does the web container destroys the servlet
object?

More specifically, are the servlet objects destroyed whenever the container
goes down? Or, is it that the container can destroy the object and recreate
it periodically.

According to the specification, there must be one and only one instance of a
servlet.

Thanks.
Pradeep
