hi,
As some source say "yes" the container  destroys servlet instances.
it may destroy when it wnats to free some memory or when it is being shutdown.
and abt the single instance of servlet:
most of the containers take "instance pooling" and "request serialization"
(or mixed approach)for better performance reasons.

Can someone tell me, when does the web container destroys the servlet object?

More specifically, are the servlet objects destroyed whenever the container
goes down? Or, is it that the container can destroy the object and recreate
it periodically.

According to the specification, there must be one and only one instance of a
servlet.

Thanks.
Pradeep
