well, those college students that are using the internet bandwidth for
whatever are also paying the tuition that helps to keep our SETI servers
up, no?  i mean, we think them playing games or d/ling warez is a "waste,"
but when we tell them they cannot do that b/c we are searching for ET, what
kind of response would you expect?  there are more and more distributed
computing projects, SETI was the first.  for instance, folding@home, which
is looking for cures for cancer.  i am wary to go along and d/l that client
b/c i am not sure how the information might be used, ie. using my computer
and then going out and making a profit off it...
