You guys need to take a step back and do some research... I am currently running SETI on XP, 2k Pro, 2k Server, Win98SE and NT4 Workstation. The XP, 2k Server and 2k Pro machines all have split hard drives with FAT and NTFS partitions... it's perfectly okay to do this.
Win 2k Pro is the fastest OS for SETI (other than running the NT client under Linux via WINE) - the 9x OS's are really poor for handling VLAR units and will slow dramatically when presented with one.
