We have currently set up a beta Plone service on a Solaris machine.

However, much of what I have read suggests Linux to be a better platform for
Plone.

Two questions:

(1) Does anyone have ball-park figures on the speed advantages of Linux over
Solaris for Plone?

(2) What sort of hardware specs are people using for a typical
high-availability setup (Plone - Pound - Varnish - Apache) running on Linux?

Ultimately I want to put together arguments to persuade the money-men to
cough up for a new server. ;-)

Cheers, Jim
