Quick followup here.
I see 120 software titles on the current Solaris Companion thus :
http://www.blastwave.org/dclarke/CCD_packages.txt
I will simply ensure that those all go over from the Blastwave CSW
package list into the Solaris 5.11 tree directly. This is a minor
effort considering the 1680+ packages in the Blastwave catalog. Those
120 packages could be taken as sources verbatim and made into a
5.11/stable tree in a trivial fashion and then pushed out to all the
mirrors in fairly short order. Along with a catalog of course such
that "pkg-get -i cups" would fetch and install all dependencies
automatically.
At the moment I have no other place to put those packages than into
the /opt/csw namespace for the Solaris Nevada users. Also the source
packages will need to go into /opt/csw/src.
Clearly details need to be hammered out but the process of getting
those few packages into a Solaris Nevada ( 5.11 ) tree is trivial.
The real task is to get software into the correct places for all open
source software that already exists in the OpenSolaris tree;
PostgreSQL, Samba, Apache etc etc. This is clearly non-trivial at
many levels.
