That's not entirely true. prodreg does so, although it relies on some extra goop outside the normal pkg structure. So Solaris itself shows up as "unclassified software" or some such. But if you used the webstart installer that used to come with the companion CD, then it presents you with a hierarchical package structure and prodreg allows you to manage the software according to that hierarchy.
