fontconfig & freetype make sense in that context, and I've used GD in the
past to generate anti-aliased text using them with our now-dead STSF project
as part of a web cgi - but I don't believe Xft is of any use outside an X
client application - Xft is the library to tie fontconfig & freetype together
with the X protocol for anti-aliased text in X applications.
