It took a few weeks to integrate the changes allowing ON to build with 
the gnu assemble.  The real stumbling block was testing since the new 
assembler also optimizes out zero offsets compared to the old assembler 
making binary comparisons of the resulting binaries difficult.

Anyway, the changes have been integrated into ON and I would like to 
proceed with the binutils integration as soon as I can.  I believe all 
of your feedback from the previous review at the end of March has been 
incorporated.  Please let me know if I missed anything.
