That's very short log to know anything. But I would suggest you to check
config.log. Look for 'checking slang.h'. You should see some errors
there ...

This should do the trick, but I'm not sure it's going to help you, since
mc seems to be getting slang from system and not from proto area.
cd $CODEMGR_WS/usr/src
make clean
What your 'uname -a' says ?
