I'd certainly prefer to see no unnecessary lines in, particularly if
the component owner doesn't even know what was the point. (Same goes
for that find/rm core that shows up occasionally for no obvious reason.)

Of course, when removing something that's already in one must be sure
there's no harm, so if it was me I'd run the build with the suspect
lines in place and removed and carefully compare if there was any
meaningful difference. Most likely not, but it's good to be
paranoid. If after that it is clear there's no reason, clean them out.
