Andreas,
Suggest that you remove (i.e. uninstall) SGD using "tarantella uninstall
--purge) first, then check to make sure there are no more SGD processes running
using "ps -ef | grep taran" before installing from scratch again.
Let us know how that works out.

David

Dear all,
Sorry for just one further mail. Since nothing solved my problem so far
I compared the ouput of /opt/tarantella/bin/tarantella config list
between a working installation and a not working one.
Working installation on another machine:
security-applyconnections: 1
security-connectiontypes: "std,ssl"
server-location: ""
server-login: enabled
Not working installation on new machine:
security-applyconnections: 0
security-connectiontypes: std
Might one of these differences be responsible for the malfunction? I
tried to set server-login but got
/opt/tarantella/bin/tarantella config edit --server-login enabled
Can't find server-login to edit on host ultra.
Hints are greatly apprecaited! Thank you very much!
Regards,
Andreas
I have reinstalled
pkgadd -d ttai3so.pkg
The following packages are available:
1 tta Sun Secure Global Desktop Software for Intel Solaris 10+
(i386) 4.20.909
...
pkgadd -d ttasecurei3so.pkg
The following packages are available:
1 ttasecure Sun Secure Global Desktop Software Security Pack
for Intel Solaris 10+
(i386) 4.20.909
...
on a Solaris 10 machine (Ultra 20). Now I can no longer start the
service.
In the meanwhile we have installed SGD 4.2.983 but still get the same
error message:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/opt/tarantella/bin/tarantella start

Sun Secure Global Desktop Software (4.2) FATAL ERROR:
The program has encountered an error that means it cannot continue.
It will now exit. A technical description is given below to help
establish the cause.
Couldn't start Tarantella services: unable to bind to port 5427.
Either the Tarantella server is already running (use "tarantella
status"to check), or a non-Tarantella process is using this port (use
tools like"netstat" and "lsof" to determine which process).
Terminate that process and try again. Always use "tarantella stop"
or"tarantella stop --kill" to stop Tarantella services.
Couldn't start Secure Global Desktop services.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have grepped for 5427 in the netstat output and got
localhost.33919 localhost.5427 49152 0 49152 0
ESTABLISHED
localhost.5427 localhost.33919 49152 0 49240 0
ESTABLISHED
How do I find out which process is using this port?
I installed lsof and used
lsof | grep 5427
to get the following output:
ttaauxser 28818 ttasys 14u IPv4 0xffffffff8d92fa80 0t773
TCP localhost:34002->localhost:5427 (ESTABLISHED)
java 28820 ttasys 10u IPv4 0xffffffff8d93ec40 0t0
TCP *:5427 (LISTEN)
java 28820 ttasys 31u IPv4 0xffffffff917e8200 0t292
TCP localhost:5427->localhost:34002 (ESTABLISHED)
I did
kill 28818
kill 28820
and then
/opt/tarantella/bin/tarantella start
This time I got no error message but status tells me that SGD is not
running and lsof | grep 5427 again gives me the above three lines. A
further attemptto start SGD again gives me the above error message. I
am stuck! Any ideas?
Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Andreas
