Hi all,

I got it to work!!!

Suggest that you remove (i.e. uninstall) SGD using "tarantella uninstall --purge) first,

Oh, I didn't now this uninstall command. Thanks!

then check to make sure there are no more SGD processes running using "ps -ef | grep taran" before installing from scratch again.

Let us know how that works out.

I removed the tarantella packages, then did "rm -rf /opt/tarantella" rebooted the machine and installed the tta package from scratch. This time I accepted all defaults including the hostname being torgau (non fully qualified hostname). Now the guy is starting again and I am back to my initial problem which is that I cannot log in as root. I get

Incorrect username or password. Please try again.

But the root password is definitely correct. I use in to ssh into the machine. Can thi shas to do with torgau being not a fully qualified doamin name? The SGD server is behind a firewall. All ports (80, 443, 5307,...) are forwarded!?

After installing everything from scratch and keeping the default values during initial configuration, I did

/opt/tarantella/bin/tarantella config edit --server-dns-external '*:<numeric public ipaddress of the firewall>'

Make sure that 80, 443, 5307, 3144 are forwarded fromthe firewall to the SGD server behind it. I now use the url

http://<numeric public ipaddress of the firewall>:47001:/tarantella

in the native client to access the server. I use port 47001 instead of the default 80. Bingo!

Live is great! Thanks to all who responded to my queries!

Regards,

  Andreas
