For the launch details box, try setting:
tarantella config edit --launch-details-initial shown
tarantella config edit |--launch-showdialogafter 1
To get debug information from the launch process, you need to
1. Enable "startdebug" in unix.exp -- you've already done this
2. Enable execpe logging by:
a. Review / save existing logfilter config - tarantella config list
--tarantella-config-execpeconfig-logfilter > save-file-name
b. Turn on logging - tarantella config edit
--tarantella-config-execpeconfig-logfilter execpe/*/*
This will create log files in the form execpe$PID.log in the log
directory. Between the launch details box and the logfiles, hopefully
this will provide enough info to diagnose the problem.

Andreas,
this can usually be resolved by varying the
"Session Ends When" attribute.
I'm sorry, but it cannot. I have iterated every one of
the 6 methods, but none fixed my problem.
You might also check the launch details to see
if there's something obvious going wrong. edit
I've set the DEBUG flag in unix.exp script, but the
connection detail windows disapears after aproximately
1 sec. So I havnt had the chance to see, neither copy
anything. Is there a flag somewhere to leave it open
in any condition? All process logfiles xpeXXXX.log and
xpeXXXX_error.log in $TARATELLA/var/log are empty.
Also, sometimes, especially with older X11 apps,
the app may fail silently when the X-Server is
missing a required extension, or if it doesn't
understand the response - for example, some old
8-bit color applications will silently fail when
the X-Server is set to anything other than 8-bit
color.
Also, I don't know Mathmatica, but since it's a
visualization product, is it possible it's requiring
OpenGL support? SGD supports the GLX extension, I
*think* it's version 1.4 - could the application
require a higher level?
Hm, I dont know how to check this. In desktop mode it
is running on every client I know. As mentioned aboved
there is no log reachable.
We are using Mathamatica 5.2, released in 2005. It's
running on various platforms in native mode or via X11
protocol. I hav'nt seen any problems before, while
using 24-, 16- or 8-bit environments. Testing every
possible setting of "color depth" did not fix the
problem in anyway.
You might try launching the application from a
desktop session, and see what happens there.
That's the way we are using it almost since 10 years.
Hope this helps,
Rick
