The mins for STN is 386 or better, 8 meg ram and a floppy. You don't
specify the memory on the 486, but you meet the rest of the critera. STN is
picky about network cards and purchasing two NE2000 clones is a very good
idea to save time and headaches getting it up and running.

Can you still use other networking software? Does it rely on TCPIP for
transport? if yes, then yes. STN is only a secure gateway to the Internet
and allows sharing of that resource.

webcasting? Are you hosting a webcast or a client? If a client, no
problem. If a server, then it's a tad more difficult, but maybe. Not sure
exactly what is required on the TCPIP end for being the server of webcast.

Subject: [ShareTheNet] STN with Macs, PC's, and Streaming...

Hello All!
I hope anyone can help me being a bit new to this and all. Here goes...
I have a 486 that is just gathering dust but....
can I use Share The Net if my situation is this...

1) The 486 has Windows 3.0
2) I have one Pentium II 350
3) And a Macintosh Beige G3
4) As well as a Macintosh G4

Will these all work with Share The Net to share my cable modem
connection?

Can I still use a networking software programs to share files like
PCMACLAN or Dave on my computers (not the 486 of course) and not
interfere with Share The Net?

Last question: Can I still be able to set up either my Mac or PC as a
audio streamer for webcasting?

Thanks!
