Thanks - but I figured that out already. . . (see the follow-up I 
entered a few messages down from there)

The real problem was that even though I was entering all the information 
correctly -ON MY LOCAL MACHINE- the NT Server DHCP server was 
overwriting this with 'blanks' / NULL because these settings were -NOT- 
set at the DHCP server.

Note: if you're running NT's DHCP service to serve IP addresses, you 
need to set paramater 003 (router), to the IP address of the STN box, as 
well as the DNS server's IP address (parameter 006?) if you're using 
DNS.

In my case, I set both these parameters to the IP address of my STN box, 
and all was well.

Once I figured out that NT was stepping all over me - I had no problems!
