Brian,
I don't know how much help this will be. . . but here goes!
1. I have standardized on 3Com for any non wintel networking. They are
easy to set up, and (like Visa, etc.) are accepted almost everywhere
(grin!)
2. I typically set up my primary NIC to 280/11 as I usually have
something else hogging up irq 5.
3. I discovered that no matter what settings I set the NIC to, (and
then hard-coded these settings into STN), that it would NOT work! It
only worked if I set autoIRQ, and cleared the base address setting. Then
STN would discover the settings and use them. What happens if you have
more than ONE NIC - I have no idea. . . .
4. Everything in your system - NIC's, modems, etc. etc. etc., has to be
statically assigned resources - STN's version of Plug-N-Play is called
"Plug-N-Puke!" (i.e. the STN kernel does -NOT- support PnP.)
