I dunno.
In my STN setup I've left both "local addr" and "remote addr" blank in the
"ISP Modem" tab. I've never had a bit of trouble connecting after the line
drops.
In fact, from time to time when my ISP has problems with one set of
rollover modems, I can use the web-based admin tool to modify the dial-up
number and STN will attempt THAT number on its next go.

OK a bit more info ...
127.99.99.1 and 127.99.99.2 are the local and remote IP addresses that STN
uses by default if you
specify "null" local and remote IP addresses (ie to be negotiated) for some
reason the ISP doesnt
like this.
Setting the users local IP address to "null" but specifying a remote value
(say 0.0.0.1 or
10.10.10.10) causes the correct negotiation of the local address but the
remote address remains as
(say) 10.10.10.10.
Doing this causes STN to connect OK and all works well ...
BUT (and here is the snag) the first time the line gets dropped it redials
OK but once again we are
in the situation of connecting, negotiating the (same) IP addresses but NO
frames are received.
Each and every redial has the same outcome thereafter.
The only solution to this seems to be rebooting STN.
This is all a real shame because this is the only practical free ISP in the
UK offering 0800 access
on a 24/7 basis.
Forcing PPPD to use 0.0.0.0:0.0.0.0 causes it to object - something about
having to have an IP
address for "demand" operation.
Any help welcome.
I have debug logs of the above, if anyone is interested.
