As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have been trying to use STN to dial
into my employer's NT box, which requires an NT domain name and apparently
uses CHAP or MS-CHAP. I have tried setting up STN using DOMAIN/USERNAME,
DOMAIN\USERNAME, and DOMAIN\\USERNAME, but none of these work. Poking around
in the PPP directory, I found all of the files like CHAT, CHAP-SECRETS, etc.
The Linux PPP HOW-TO talks about using Minitel to manual dial and capture
all the traffic so you can see what the host expects. I suppose I would have
to have a complete installation of Linux to do this, right? (can't seem to
figure out how to do it from Windows 98 HyperTerminal). So if I install the
full Linux and figure this out, then how would I make the necessary changes
to the PPP scripts in STN? is there a way to unzip the ppp.tbz file on the
STN disk, poke stuff into the scripts, and rezip it up? Or will I have to
install to a harddrive to make these changes? What is a tbz file anyway? I
know what a tgz is.
