I have added a directory and file structure on the Solaris Server with
periods and spaces and then the backup works fine. Is this a Sharity issue?

Any ideas?
We are not aware of such a problem. Especially the period (".") is a character which is part of almost every file. We would have received MANY complaints if there were a problem with files containing this character.

I don't know how your backup script works, but if you go through the browser in /CIFS, there is a symbolic link involved. Can this make a difference?
