Most will let you read the MAP voltage while the car is running, that is the easiest way to check it out. Otherwise you can connect a volt meter to the sensor wire on the MAP connecter and check the output there. I'm guessing this is on your 89 Daytona? (the 88 and 89 SMECs seem most picky about the MAP signal). Have him check the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator for signs of fuel. I've fixed 4 code 13's on 88-89 in the last year or so and all were due to leaky fuel pressure regulators.
