                                         As-salamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi
wa Barakatoh,

  * Amir al-Mu'minin Imām ‘Alī ibn Abī Tālib (A.S) said*

*"The reward of a religious scholar is greater than the reward of a person
who is fasting on days and establishes prayers during the night and fights
in the Holy War for the sake of Allah. And, when a religious scholar dies,
there will appear a gap in Islam which cannot be compensated except by a
replacement of that (kind)."*

Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Illaihi Raajiun

This is to inform all momineen with utmost sorrow that Ayatollah Muhammad
Hussain Fadlullah, who was a prominent Shia scholar, passed away in Beirut,
Lebanon on Sunday 04th July 2010 at the age of 74.

Sayyed Fadlullah had been hospitalised several times over the past months.
On Friday, he was admitted to intensive care as his health deteriorated due
to internal bleeding.

Ayatollah Muhammad Hussain Fadlullah was born into a religious and pious
family in the holy city of Najaf in the year 1935. After completing his
preliminary stages, Sayyed Fadlullah studied under leading Shia scholars in
the Islamic seminary of Najaf, including: Ayatollah Sayyed Muhsin Al-Hakim,
Ayatollah Sayyed Abul Qasim Al-Khoei and Ayatollah Sayyed Mahmoud
Al-Shahroudi.

The late Ayatollah was renowned for his academic brilliance, humility, and
lofty morals. In addition to academic and religious activities, Sayyed
Fadlullah concentrated on helping the downtrodden. He overlooked an
extensive network of social and charity institutions including schools,
orphanages, hospitals and clinics. The late Ayatollah’s contributions in
this regard are indicative of the strong emphasis that he provided on
empowering the deprived in society.

Ayatollah Fadlullah was a strong critic of the brutal Zionist occupation of
Lebanon, and had an influential role in the eventual liberation of Lebanon
through his writings and sermons. Throughout his life, the late Sayyed
advocated for a strong Ummah, and in this context, he was amongst the
fiercest voices against the continued occupation of Palestine at the hand of
the Zionists.

We request all believers to recite Surat Al-Fatiha and to remember the late
Ayatollah in Salaat Al-Wahsha on Tuesday night.
