Bushehr, July 2, IRNA – The official in charge of project on development of
phase 14 of South Pars gas field Saeed Sattari says 40 percent progress has
been registered in the implementation of the project.
Sattari said operations will begin next month to drill 44 appraisal wells
once necessary jackets are installed.
He said two drilling machines have been set up in the area for the purpose.
He added that a 55-percent progress has also been recorded in a project for
laying pipelines.

Anniversary of US shooting down of Iran passenger flight observed
Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan prov, July 2, IRNA – The anniversary of the shooting
down of the Iranian passenger flight by the US navy in the Persian Gulf was
observed here on Monday.
During a commemoration ceremony held on the occasion this morning, the
location of the crash of the plane was showered with flowers.
A number of families of the martyred passengers as well as army and civil
officials attended the ceremony.
Some 299 Iranian nationals and foreign passengers aboard the flight lost their
lives as a result of the attack.
During the last year of Iran’s 1980-88 imposed war with Iraq, a US warship shot
down an Iranian passenger Airbus plane over the Persian Gulf on July 2, 1988.
In fact, in pursuit of its policy to “change Iran’s behavior”, the United
States had resorted to the most obvious terrorist tool, that was, shooting down
of a passenger plane which was flying through an ordinary corridor.
The measure taken by the US navy, which had few historical precedents, cannot
be described by any other phrase than “state terrorism”.
