I don't think we ever explicitly targeted a specific version of Java to use,
but I do feel that we should probably support Java 5. I'd be happy to add
this to our coding guidelines (which are here, by the way:
http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/SHINDIGxSITE/Java+Style)
