Interestingly, I think this puts Penley at odds with AJ Tech. Implicitly, at least, I think AJ Tech endorses (or at least used to endorse, a little over a year ago) the spine at 3-9. The only AJ shaft I have used had installation instructions to place the logo at 3 o'clock. From my measurement, the spine on this shaft is a big one (double-digit cpm difference between stiff and soft FLO planes), and its location is right down the middle of the logo.
