ONLY WHEN SMELTING. removing a head doesn't come close to the melting temperature. File it along with the legend of heating a hosel before bending. Sure, pass it over a candle flame if you insist. You would have to heat it so hot the epoxy, paint, medallion and all else would be gone before it "softens". Besides a propane torch won't reach that temperature!
Now, what I would really want to know "Is there anything that the State of California has found that does NOT cause cancer?"
