is it true that a 747 holds 47,000
gallons of fuel and do the wings actually "flex" 17 feet between sitting
on the ground and cruising at 585mph?

In searching for a used 747 to purchase, I found the fuel capacity to vary from 53,985 - 57,285 US Gallons. As for wing flex judging from what I've seen from a window seat in rough weather "they sure flex a lot" but I couldn't measure because I was in deep conversation with a very high power!
