Makes sense with the move toward softer tipped shafts for woods but the Titleist irons offer up the Dynamic Gold shaft as their standard shipping shaft except for the tip softer Nippon offered with their "game improvement" iron. Mizuno also goes with the Dynamic Gold for their "low handicap" iron designs and switches to the Dynalite in their game improvement line.

I have no real evidence to present but my feeling would be that toe droop would tend to be more of an issue with the higher swing speeds of the better player. The DG shaft is pretty tip stiff compared to most and I don't believe it has change much in the past few years.

Take care,

Subject: RE: ShopTalk: Professional Opinions on OEM lie angles

I suspect that they are trying to make lighter shafts which most likely corresponds to a softer shaft. As the shaft gets softer the basic lie should be more upright to compensate for the greater toe done deflection of the softer shaft during the swing. This follows the fact that I have seen the new wood shafts are getting softer then shafts a couple of years ago.
