Oops, sorry I did not see that Leo’s email came in through Shop Talk – I did
not mean to make this any type of shameless plug for our product as I just
thought it was a private email from Leo and responded that way. Again, sorry
about that because I respect the fact that Shop Talk messages shouldn’t consist
of shameless commercial plugs for products. I’ll watch the FROM a little more
closely in the future.

LEO

Thanks for your email. I did smile when I read your comment to say that your
friend gets “unwell” when he sees the large size driver heads !!

To be honest with you, I do not know of any companies that are making a smaller
actual driver model, one that would be in the area of 350-400cc or smaller.
At present the vast majority of golfers seem to still believe that “bigger is
better” and so the golf companies are not yet ready to make smaller size driver
heads to see if there could be any sort of significant demand.

My only suggestion would be for you to look at our new model 919F/D heads that
are just becoming available. This is a different clubhead which I designed for
golfers to use as a club off the tee for control on very tight par 4 and par 5
holes. You can think of it as a very large 3-wood or as a very small driver
head. We offer it in both an 11* and 14* loft, it has a bendable hosel so it
can be adjusted to a wide range of lie angle and face angle fitting options and
it has two weight bores so it can be built to a wide range of length from as
long as 44” down to as short as 42”, depending on the weight of the shaft and
grip.

Size wise, in cc volume measurement, the 919F/D is a 240cc volume head. So
compared to a typical 3 wood at 160cc or a typical 450-460cc driver, you can
get a better feeling for its size. More information about the 919F/D can be
seen through this link on our website -

Thank you very much and I hope we could help to make your friend feel more
“well” !!!

I have a friend who gets 'unwell' from looking at the huge driverheads which
are sold nowadays and he asked me whether I could find a good driverhead with a
smaller size.
I would be quite happy if some of you could point me to a supplier of those. I
assume they are still being made ?

Thanks in advance,
