Hi Guys, The long term plan is to have comprehensive facilities in Shotwell for autocompletion and tag disambiguation even when you have multiple tags with the same names at different places in the tag hierarchy. There are a variety of tickets related to this in Yorba's redmine database, some mentioned by pt, but there's also #3911.
We wish we could have done all of this in one release, but we're an open-source not-for-profit, so we don't have a huge amount of resources to throw around. Alas.
