[Shotwell] duplicate tags

Looking at my imported collection I can see the hierarchical tags from 
f-spot's database, as well as loads of tags in a flat structure. It 
seems that I have duplicate tags (though none on the same level). This 
was something that wasn't possible in f-spot and I'm wondering whether 
this is WAD and duplicate tags are ok (I can think of where this might 
be handy in a hierarchical tag bundle) or whether it's something I need 
to worry about.
