I'll give the Ctrl-A Ctrl-R Ctrl-Z sequence a try first - only problem is, I'm 
not entirely sure which key is being interpreted as Ctrl in this Virtual 
Machine Ubuntu 12.04 running in Parallels on a Mac!

I'll leave it running overnight (23:10 hrs here), and see what's happened in 
the morning.
