You don't have to build the whole distro, but you have to build all dependencies needed by your programm. So you need at least gcc (wich has some other dependencies kernel,...) And if you provide a bb recipe your app will be included in the feed really fast, if we have to make the recipe you have to wait until we have time and effort to do it. And as time is rare that can be some weeks.
