Why do you need to prevent suspend while running mokonnect?

mostly because the wireless connection is so flaky it takes me 20
attempts to get it to connect, so it's exceedingly irritating when it then
suspends and drops the connection!

I see, sucks :)

sure does. i haven't had the time to investigate sadly, kinda hoping it'll magically fix itself :-)
Anyhow, I don't think that will ever be the default, as I really see it as a
bad behavior. (But I'm not the only shr user/dev).

i think it might be a matter of preference, I don't think it's inherently
good or bad, it's just my preference. I suppose if the wireless etc always
came back up then I wouldn't mind so much.

The main problem I have with it, is that people may want the phone to
suspend if they forget either of them open, I would.
And since using this way, you don't turn it on specifically, this means some
users may not undrestand the implications
of letting the applications run in the background.

yes, you are quite right
You can just pop open quick-settings and request the phone not to turn off
screen.

true, but I only remember after it's gone to sleep and i've cursed it.

Actually, I suggested another project:
http://trac.shr-project.org/trac/ticket/947
That I think that will solve all your problems and will still remain remain
sane.
that's a good idea
Furthermore, in the case of mokonnect you also want to disable dim, so
request display as well...

 really? i don't mind the dim :-)

Sorry, I'm terribly tired, I meant tangogps :P You probably don't want the
screen to dim while you navigate.
lol, fair enough. I actually let tango dim because I tend to use tango on foot where I only get it out of my pocket occasionally so prefer the power saving, and use navit when driving which already has a desktop shortcut that inhibits power saving
But as I said, I think it's better to do it in quick-settings.

you are probably right, but i figure it's worth airing my customisations
and opinions

Of course, just saying what I think.

i think if we all speak, we all come out richer :-)
