Unfortunately, u-boot does not boot such a large kernel, AFAIK... Please replace u-boot by the Qi boot loader. You'll need to flash to your phone to do this, but with the GTA02 it's almost impossible to brick the device (so that it's unaccessible), because there's a second boot-loader in there (in NOR). So, please do go ahead experimenting with distributions and see what you like!
