Hi guys,

I installed the new shr-testing image today. I'm so impressed at how
much the software has changed just since the last testing. Really, I
wasn't expecting so much. So thanks.

To start with the bad. After freshly reformating my uSD card and
untarring the -lite image into it, the phone booted and for half a
second showed the 1st install wizard, then started to load illume
(covering the install wizard). I pressed the 'back' button which
appeared (when things were still loading), and after about a second
Enlightenment came up with a SIG(can't remember what, sorry) box, I
pressed 'kill', and decided to reimage.

So I re-untarred, to ensure I had a clean image, and tried again.
This time the wizard came up fine, until I was at the "Enter root
password" screen, when (about a second after I switched to the
terminal keyboard) Enlightenment informed me of a SIGABRT. I pressed
recover, and things loaded ok, and I was able to finish the 1st time
wizard. After that things went fine.

To make you feel better after that bad experience, I am very happy
to find that the 2 bugs which really annoyed me (suspend not working
and the keyboard not handling reorientation) are now fixed, which is
great.

And I think the interface of illume 2, with the back and close
buttons on the bottom, is much clearer than that of illume 1.

Another thing I really like is the menu that appears when the power
button is pressed. /Really/ nice to be able to choose the profile
easily, a well as shutdown etc. It's a pity it takes about 1 second
to appear, but that's OK.

One thing is that I seem to be more frequently selecting but not
starting applications from the home screen. That is, I tap on them
on the screen, and they're surrounded by a black border, but they
aren't started unless I tap them again. Is this by design? What's
the use of it?

The shr-today screen is slightly less beautiful now, as the image is
stretched and somewhat pixelated. The upside is that it does look
much better when in landscape orientation.

These are my first impressions - I'll open bug reports for these
things in the next few days. But as I say, overall, I'm really
really happy to see the development.

So thanks again!

Nick
