Yeah, it's absolutly the best time to try SHR on your Palm Pre as we have most features working we need. This includes working telephony (no SMS and advanced features but you can make calls, switch the network), wifi and running a PPP connection to use your mobile data flatrate. All in all it's buggy so don't except to have a phone ready for daily use. But we need all help we can get to get it ready for daily use! > First of all, I would like to know about the current status of SHR on the Pre > - > I had a look at scap [1] and while some screenshots suggested that phone > calls > may work with SHR (reception bars), others don´t - therefore I am bit > confused. > Then I would like to know whether the installation instructions on the SHR > wiki > are up to date, I saw that there were some major edits some time ago which > were > then removed again - that´s why I am confused. The current status of FSO support is mostly documentated here: http://wiki.freesmartphone.org/index.php/HardwareComparison With SHR you can use currently the following things: - make phone calls (lacking integration of audio routing in SHR, but code is already written, needs testing and bug fixing; work in general) - open a PPP connection and use it for surfing on the internet - connect to your favorite wifi network - use most applications that are available in SHR - ... In summary there are many things to do to have a phone ready for daily use. But you are very welcome to help us in getting it ready! We need everyone we can get! Please tell us where you can help. If you have more questions about the status feel free to ask too. > BTW: While I find instructions about the Pre and the Pre Plus, I don´t find > any > about SHR on the Pre Plus (which is my primary phone right now)... The installation instructions in the SHR wiki are for all three Pre devices which are currently available: Pre, Pre Plus and Pre2. > One more, not that important question: What´s the actual name of the baseband > processor built in the Pre? It's a msm6260 as far as I know. But if you can run SHR/FSO on this phone depends on much more than only the modem. Please try to find out what is used to communicate with the modem: A binary protocol or plain AT commands. regards, morphis _______________________________________________ Shr-User mailing list [email protected] http://lists.shr-project.org/mailman/listinfo/shr-user
