Precedence: bulk ACHEH-SUMATRA NATIONAL LIBERATION FRONT PO BOX 130 S-145 01, NORSBORG, SWEDEN +++++================================ PRESS RELEASE 26 June, 1999 More Achehnese seeking refuge in their own country to avoid Indonesia soldiers Atrocities in Acheh. In the process of avoiding falling victims to the Javanese-Indonesian soldiers atrocities in Acheh, about more than 2100 Achehnese villagers, men, women, and children, have fled from their villagers since yesterday, June 25, to seek refuge at the Beureunuen Mosque, Pidie. They were originally from the villagers of Blang Malo, Krueng Seukeuk and Lhok Keutapang. At the same time, the Geumpang-Tangse Highway is still closed, the fourth day in a row. Simultaneously, more Indonesian soldiers are also deployed in the area, about 500-600 troops. From previous experience, this has given them a chance to rob the villagers of their properties after their evacuation. We call upon the international community, governmental and non governmental organization, dignitaries, scholars, individuals and human rights organizations, to put an end to these heinous acts of human right violation and terror perpetrated by the Javanese Indonesian troops upon the hapless innocent Achehnese.
