Hello Jonathan,
I wholehartedly and strongly support this proposal. I've thought about the
potential reasons for including contact information in bulk Whois data, however
I can't think of any reason for it's inclusion.
As the Using Whois page on the APNIC website
(https://www.apnic.net/manage-ip/using-whois/) reads, "The results of any
search are provided purely for operational purposes (such as finding the
authoritative contact for a troublesome machine) and are not to be used for
commercial or marketing purposes", meaning that should anyone need to query the
database for contact information to speak to a network operator for
technical/operational reasons, they can search directly on the Whois website or
query the Whois database to gather this information. There's no legitimate
reason to bulk harvest contact information.
Regards,Christopher Hawker
