Thanks a lot! I copied in your keyboard sections and it works great now.  Mine
said gb instead of pc in the geometry field.  But all works now.  For some
reason I couldn't run showkey. The error was that X is also reading
/dev/console. Was I supposed to run it in console mode? The problem is only in
X. But I suppose that's academic. Thanks.......
