Only the root account on my machine is actually using the name servers I
specified using netcfg. Here's my resolv.conf and hosts files:

/etc/resolv.conf:
search cc.utexas.edu
nameserver 128.83.185.41
nameserver 128.83.185.40

/etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 sark.cc.utexas.edu sark
128.83.144.57 fantail.cs.utexas.edu fantail
128.83.120.159 tornado.cs.utexas.edu tornado
128.83.143.204 darkwing.cs.utexas.edu darkwing

and here is what ifconfig returns:

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
       inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
       UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:3924 Metric:1
       RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
       TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
       collisions:0 txqueuelen:0

ppp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
       inet addr:128.83.46.181 P-t-P:128.83.46.246 Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
       RX packets:78 errors:2 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:2
       TX packets:84 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
       collisions:0 txqueuelen:10

When I try an nslookup as any user other than root, it says the default
nameserver is 0.0.0.0. Any help would be appreciated here. Thanks.
