I don't think the prolem lies in X11amp, but am not sure where else to
start. First off, my config:
A Yamaha OPL3-SA2 soundcard integrated in the motherboard.
RedHat 5.2 + all updates
Kernel 2.2.3 (w\ all of RH's compat. updates)
I've tried the binary RPMs, the src RPMs, and the tarballs, I haven't
tried all three for all versions, just all versions in some format or
another. The problem I'm having is the app starts fine, and I can either
select a file to play or edit a playlist and so far it seems normal. But
when I actually try to play a file, the clock shows 0:00 (various other
locations light up too) for about one second, then everything goes blank
again. (the clock and various ther lights). With xamp, when I try to
play a file, it just closes and says "Unable to open audio device \n
Broken Pipe." I've also tried mpg123 and that says it's decoding the
file then it says that decoding has finished and nothing plays. I can
play audio CDs with the sound chipset, and showaudio works (very quietly
though) on .au files. For some reason, using showaudio and cat file >
/dev/audio play really quiet, tried aumix but can't seem to find one.
Anyhow x11amp-0.65 used to work, then something happened and sound in
general didn't work, and now sound seems to be working but I can't play
anything but .au files so far. Thanks in advance for any help.
