i have a 19.2G Bigfoot HD and am having problems installing both NT and
linux on it. linux installs without any problems, but NT seems to dislike
the drive size. these are my intended partitions
2G NT
3G WIN32
4G WIN32
5G WIN32
-----
2G LINUX
16M SWAP
2G LINUX
when i try installing NT4.0 with those partitions it says my partition is
damaged and that it cannot format it.
so i created just one 2G partition and left the remaining 16G as an
extended partition with no logical drives and i did mange to install NT
and everything worked fine.
but when i broke the extended partition into the one above NT wouldnt boot
anymore. it crashes at boot-time with the usual bunch of hex numbers.
i did try using fdisk during the linux installation to break my drive down
into 3 primary partitions and 1 extended partition (since fdisk in dos
doesnt let you create more than 1 primary partition) but it gave me the
same error saying the drive was damaged and couldnt be formatted.
any suggestions to fix this or even to let me know that it cannot be
fixed would be greatly appreciated.
