i use a diamond viper330 agp card and it works fine. you should be
able to tell the config program how much ram you have on your card.
are you using Xconfigurator or xf86config? i'd recommend aquainting
yourself with the XF86Config file, typically found in /etc/X11. you'll have
a lot more control after you know how that file works.
there may be some gui out there to help you with the XF86Config file,
but i've always preferred emacs on textfiles for critical conf files.
