I normally look through the distorbution's page for what is supported (normally
called a Hardware compatibility list).  I normally buy a common large companies
product (If I have the money).   Look at Tier 1 Supported Hardware.   Accoding
to redhat this means that the Linux kernal can detect this.   <a

Also I know that Window$ also has such a list.

I normally go there before buying any hardware.
