 Sorry about the late reply. I use a Tekram DC390F UW, which I think is
now obsolete (Symbios N53C875), but I really like it. I've used it with
Linux, Solaris 2.7, Win95, Win98, OS/2 Warp 3 & 4, and NT 4.0 WS & Server.
(OK, so I'm a software slut.)
 NT install pukes on it if you don't tickle it just right, but I've found
that true for any Adaptec after the 7860 chip, too. 
 Everything else found it & installed quite happily. Tekram updates their
drivers & firmware regularly. I wish they actively supported Linux, but so
far, no SCSI mfrs do....
 Oh, yeah. Performance is easily as good as the on-board Adaptec AIC-7895
UW on my dual m/b.
