your errors.kernel isn't a kernel log, it's a make error, what are you
making?  you appear to be having trouble extracting but yet you are
also compiling things...one problem at a time.
the look of your errors.X file appears to say that there is something
bogus about the archives you downloaded.  are they the right size?
try cksum or md5sum to verify the file or (you're using roadrunner)
find a fast mirror and re-get the files.
